A good business class fare from Europe to the Middle East is anything under €1,206 return, and to Southeast Asia under €1,740. Across the 4,978 fares we sent members in the 12 months to July 2026, roughly 20 in each of 247 alerts, the typical one was 53% below the normal retail price, an average saving of €1,866 a trip. Business class sale seats from Europe open year round, not on a fixed calendar, so the question is less when to buy and more how to be watching when a fare appears.

What counts as a good business class price from Europe?

Across 4,978 business class fares we sent members in the last 12 months, a good price is best defined by region, because a fare to Dubai and a fare to Sydney are not the same purchase. The table below is our Fare Index. The typical column is the median fare we alerted to that region. The good column is the top quarter of fares, the excellent column the top tenth. Every figure is a return business class fare in euro.

Read a single row and the benchmark is clear. The Middle East is the cheapest long-haul business class region from Europe: a good fare is under €1,206 return, and the very cheapest tenth started at €1,199, because Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi are the most heavily contested premium routes in the market. Southeast Asia carries the most volume, 1,226 of our fares, with a good fare under €1,740. Oceania is the outlier: even an excellent business class fare to Australia rarely dropped below €2,591, because there is no short way to fly there and little competition to force the price down.

The reference point behind every one of these numbers is the retail fare. On the fares where we could measure it, the normal price averaged €3,503 return. Our typical fare was €1,636, a saving of €1,866 a trip and a 53% discount. That gap is the whole game: a good business class fare is not a cheap ticket, it is a real business class seat bought at roughly half of what the airline first asked.

A quick sanity check: cost per flight hour

If a region table is more than you need, divide the fare by the flight time. A fare under €150 per flight hour in business class from Europe is a good one, and under €120 is excellent. Frankfurt (FRA) to Bangkok (BKK) is about 11 hours each way, so a €1,657 return fare works out near €75 an hour of flat-bed travel, which is why Southeast Asia is where the value feels sharpest.

Business class from Europe to Bangkok

Bangkok is the sale capital. It appeared in 58 fares over the last 12 months, more than any other destination, from 32 different European cities, with a typical fare of €1,994 and sale fares from €1,379. The reason is capacity: Thai Airways, the Gulf carriers, Turkish and the Chinese airlines all fight for the same seats, so the route goes on sale constantly. The cheapest starts appeared from Milan (MXP) at €1,379 and Amsterdam (AMS) at €1,401.

Business class from Europe to Dubai

Dubai is where the single sharpest fares live. Emirates and Etihad hold enormous premium capacity and have let fares ease to win back demand, so the route saw business class from €607 return in the last 12 months, the lowest fare in our whole index. It came from Stockholm (ARN). Paris (CDG) and Nice (NCE) followed under €800. The typical Dubai fare was €1,508, so under €1,200 is already a strong price.

Business class from Europe to Tokyo and East Asia

Tokyo ran from €1,271, though its typical fare of €2,205 is higher than Southeast Asia, and spring and autumn spike with cherry blossom and foliage demand. The cheapest starts came from Berlin (BER) at €1,271 and Brussels (BRU). East Asia as a whole had a good fare under €1,723 and an excellent one under €1,501, with Beijing an outlier that dropped to €747 as Chinese carriers pushed China fares to record lows.

Business class from Europe to New York and North America

New York ran from €1,209, typically €1,799. The cheapest starts came from Dublin (DUB) at €1,209 and the Nordic hubs, Oslo (OSL) and Stockholm (ARN), both near €1,220. North America is the region where a business class fare feels least extravagant per hour, because the flights are shorter, and where an all-business carrier occasionally undercuts the majors on the transatlantic.

Which European cities get the best business class deals?

The same route can cost hundreds of euro less depending on which airport you start from. This is the most useful and least understood part of finding cheap business class, so it is worth a table. Below are the European cities that saw the most business class fares in the last 12 months, with the lowest fare from each and the destinations that came up most.

The departure-airport trick, in one number

Take one destination and watch the origin change. Business class to Dubai came from Stockholm (ARN) at €607, from Nice (NCE) at €772 and from Paris (CDG) at €780, while the typical Dubai fare across all cities was €1,508. Business class to Bangkok started at €1,379 from Milan (MXP) against a €1,994 typical. If you can position to a cheaper hub, or you already live near one, the same seat costs a different price. Business class deals from London and the UK

London is the busiest UK departure by a distance: 105 business class fares in the last 12 months, from £1,073 return, typically £1,937. Manchester (MAN) followed with 54 fares from £1,076, and Birmingham (BHX) and Edinburgh (EDI) appeared regularly too. Why business class from Europe is cheaper than from North America

Between 2019 and 2023 the average transatlantic business class fare fell about 3%, even as economy rose 14% and general prices rose 19%, according to Cirium data reported by USA Today. Premium seats from Europe are not expensive because airlines are generous. They are competitive because Europe is the most contested long-haul market in the world, and a discounted flat bed still earns far more than an empty one.

Yield management, in plain terms

Airlines run revenue systems that adjust prices thousands of times a day. When a flight is forecast to depart with unsold business class seats, the system opens cheaper fare buckets to fill them, because a seat sold at €1,600 earns €1,600 more than a seat flown empty. Premium is now the profit engine: Delta reported first-half 2025 premium-cabin revenue up about 6% to roughly 10.6 billion dollars while main-cabin revenue fell about 4%. Airlines want these seats sold, and that is what creates the sale.

Why two seats in the same row cost thousands apart

One business class cabin is split into inventory buckets, coded J, C, D and I, each with its own price and rules. The buyer who books three weeks out on a corporate account pays the full walk-up fare. The traveller who books months ahead on a flexible date buys the discounted bucket. Same seat, same flat bed, same meal, a different fare class. A sale fare is simply a low bucket that opened on a flight the airline expects to fly with space.

More carriers, more sales

Competition on the Europe to Asia and Europe to Middle East corridors is intensifying. Riyadh Air begins full daily public service on 1 July 2026 as a deliberate undercutter of Emirates and Qatar across about 15 launch routes including London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid. Turkish Airlines is growing toward roughly 600 aircraft by the end of 2026. Chinese carriers now hold about 83% of China to Europe capacity outside Russia, up from around two-thirds in 2019, which has pushed China-route fares to record lows. Every new entrant on a corridor is another airline that has to discount to fill its own premium cabin.

When is the cheapest time to book business class from Europe?

There is no sale season worth waiting for. We sent business class fares in every month of the last 12, between 15 and 25 alerts a month, an average of about 20 alerts carrying around 20 fares each. A fare is a low bucket opening on a specific flight, and those open all year. The chart below is our monthly alert count. Notice there is no dead month.

The booking-window debate, settled with our own data

Advice online contradicts itself. The Points Guy says there is no set best time to book a premium fare. Other guides insist on 60 to 90 days out, or 3 to 6 months. Our fares point to the honest answer: premium pricing is availability-driven more than calendar-driven. That said, the fares we found were cheapest in November, at a median from-price of €1,451, and December close behind. They were dearest in April, at €1,714. Winter outside the holidays is when the sharpest fares appear.

The one habit that works

Because a sale fare is a specific flight going on sale, the winning move is not a date, it is exposure. Book long-haul roughly 6 to 12 months ahead, not three weeks out, so you are in the market while the cheap buckets are still open. And keep 2 or 3 destinations in mind rather than one. If you will take a flat bed to Bangkok, Singapore or Dubai, you are watching three independent corridors, each of which can go on sale on its own, and you only need one of them to drop.

How business class deal alerts work, and whether they are worth it

A business class alert service watches fares across dozens of European airports and messages you the moment a route drops below its sale threshold, so you can book in the minutes the fare exists. Premium sale buckets are small and they close fast, often within hours, so the value of an alert is not the discovery, it is the speed. By the time a fare reaches a public list it is often gone.

An error fare is a mistakenly low price, usually from a currency or fuel-surcharge slip, that an airline may or may not honour. They are rare and unpredictable, and no service can promise them, so treat a genuine error fare as a bonus, never a plan. How to book an error fare

If you do catch one, the drill is simple. Book quickly, because the price will be corrected within hours. Screenshot everything. Pay the airline directly rather than through a third party. Do not phone to ask whether it is real. Then wait until you are ticketed, and do not book connecting non-refundable travel or hotels for about 72 hours, in case the airline cancels.

Your EU rights if it is cancelled or downgraded

This is where a European buyer is better protected than an American one. Under EU261, if a flight is cancelled or you are involuntarily downgraded, you have set entitlements by distance. The figures are worth knowing.
