London (LHR and LGW)
London is the busiest premium departure in Europe and the home base of British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, so it carries the most fares and the most direct routes. From London we logged business class to Dubai from £1,396, New York from £1,484, Singapore from £1,485 and Bangkok from £1,498. The typical London fare was £1,937.
Manchester (MAN)
Manchester is the main transatlantic and long-haul gateway outside London, with Singapore Airlines flying business class direct and strong one-stop value on the Gulf carriers. Manchester to Singapore reached £1,260, the cheapest single UK fare to Asia in our data, and Manchester to New York £1,491. If you live in the north, starting here saves a domestic connection.
Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow
The smaller UK hubs appear less often but they do appear, mostly one-stop via a Gulf hub on Emirates, Qatar Airways or Etihad. Birmingham (BHX) logged business class to Bangkok from £1,652 and Kuala Lumpur from £1,906. Edinburgh (EDI) reached New York at £2,254 and has around seven US routes. How Air Passenger Duty affects UK business class prices
From 1 April 2026, Air Passenger Duty on a business class ticket is £244 per passenger to Band B destinations such as the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and £253 to Band C destinations such as Thailand, Singapore and Japan. That is roughly 2.4 times the economy rate, and it is charged only on departures from the UK. It is the single biggest reason a UK business class fare looks higher than the same seat from continental Europe.
